Summary

The Coordinator for Operational Planning provides leadership in the implementation, coordination, and oversight of the change of school assignment and foreign exchange student requests, and private school reporting. The incumbent provides advice and assistance to the District Leadership and other staff regarding information pertaining to student assignment practices and procedures and other responsibilities of the Student Assignment Office. 

Essential Duties

  • Develops, organizes, and manages processes to ensure the smooth, ongoing workflow of the district’s change of school assignment and foreign exchange student requests
  • Analyzes, interprets, and prepares various reports related to change of school assignment and student enrollment.
  • Directs the collection, analysis, and interpretation of private school attendance data and the development of the annual state report
  • Communicates with schools and parents/guardians to ensure adherence to policies and other applicable procedures
  • Serve as a liaison between the schools and the Student Assignment Office regarding change of school assignment and foreign exchange student requests
  • Guides the initiation and completion of complex projects and programs; makes recommendations to management for implementation
  • Develops and conducts presentations/trainings for other departmental leadership and staff relevant to the change of school assignment processes and procedures and other Student Assignment Office responsibilities
  • Receives and responds either verbally or in writing to inquiries from departmental leadership, schools, and other staff
  • Research and recommend new processes, policies, and procedures to effect continual improvement in the efficiency of the department and services performed
  • Perform other duties and assume other responsibilities as assigned by the appropriate administrator

Required Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Education, Public Administration or related field or A combination of experience and education may be used to meet the Bachelor’s Degree requirement - Two years of similar work level experience = 1 year of college (8 years total)

None required

Experience Qualifications

Minimum of 6 years’ experience managing and coordinating school transfer requests processes and procedures, school attendance boundaries, and related school planning activities; supervisory and/or administrative experience required; Experience in K-12 education settings helpful, but not essential

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Ability to work concurrently on multiple projects and provide assistance to numerous internal and external stakeholders
  • Must be able to collaborate effectively with District and school personnel, the general public, and work with diverse groups of people
  • Demonstrates strong attention to detail and accuracy of information, including the ability to organize large amounts of data and track multiple projects
  • Ability to supervise and work effectively with departmental personnel
  • Excellent decision-making and problem solving skills
  • Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office products including Excel and Access
  • Ability to work effectively in a leadership role
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
