Summary

The Coordinator of Project Management is responsible for leading significant District-wide SPLOST technology projects, typically with large budgets and sizeable staff, focused on meeting project commitments to include communications with sponsors and stakeholders, acquiring and managing project resources, and planning and evaluating project activities. The Coordinator of Project Management will also define project scopes and ensure alignment with District SPLOST technology objectives and oversee quality control throughout project life cycles.

Essential Duties

  • Manages multiple complex projects; defines requirements and plans project lifecycle execution
  • Defines resources and schedule for project and program implementation using tools established by IT Division
  • Creates strategies for risk mitigation and contingency planning
  • Drives organizational change and acts as a champion for business problem solutions related to project work
  • Works cross-functionally to solve problems and implement changes
  • Fosters and manages productive relationships with executive level sponsors, stakeholders, and external partners
  • Participates in SPLOST strategy development and execution Directs and oversees internal and external project teams and manages conflict within group
  • Develops Requests for Proposals (RFP) for external services Designs and maintains technical and project documentation
  • Develops, monitors, and maintains the project communication plan and process
  • Maintains awareness of emerging technologies and project management techniques
  • Participates in outside professional activities to maintain knowledge on developments in the field
  • Performs other duties as assigned the appropriate administrator

Required Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering or Information Systems

Certification/Licensure

Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification preferred

Experience Qualifications

Minimum of 5 years of experience in IT with 3 - 5 years of experience with Project Management required

  • Demonstrated record of project management success, both in results achieved and in use of professional methodology
  • Must be able to successfully manage multiple tasks, projects and responsibilities
  • Ability to apply critical thinking skills in rendering solutions to various issues
  • Must be able to collaborate effectively with District personnel, the general public, and work with diverse groups of people
  • Strong presentation and customer service skills
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills

Working Conditions

  • Normal office environment
  • Local travel to schools and administrative buildings for site reviews, meeting attendance, and project supervision

Physical Demands

  • Occasional lifting of office equipment (i.e. workstation, monitor, printer, desktop or laptop)
