Summary

Provides direct service, instructional support, and diagnostic evaluations to stakeholders regarding Pre-school assessments and instructional supports in the areas of academics, communication, social, adaptive and physical access

Essential Duties

  • Provides direct and support services to Pre-school students with disabilities, their parents and personnel that provide services for them
  • Provides services to schools through implementation of strategies to access and enhance achievement, communication, and physical access for preschool students
  • Provides diagnostic support as initial case managers compiling informational documents and assessments required to address initial evaluations (ie: eligibility, IEP)
  • Participates in professional development to maintain and enhance skills
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the appropriate administrator

Required Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Education

Certification/Licensure

Must hold a valid Georgia Special Education teaching certificate or licensure in speech therapy

Experience Qualifications

Minimum 3 years of teaching experience at the appropriate level (Elementary, Middle, or High School) required

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Knowledgeable regarding the Georgia Performance Standards, norm and criterion referenced assessments including the Georgia Alternative Assessment and developmental skill sequences
  • Experience with and knowledge of developmental sequences for Pre-school students with learning, communication, and physical disabilities preferred
  • Ability to work independently
  • Experience with data collection and interpretation is preferred
  • Excellent communication skills both orally and in writing
  • Excellent organizational skills
