Summary

Operates and maintains high-volume digital copiers and a variety of bindery equipment to produce a wide variety of print jobs including large format printing.

Essential Duties

  • Makes equipment and computer interface adjustments required to run various sizes, finishes, and weights of paper stock
  • Operates a variety of print shop equipment including digital printers, binding, punching, cutting, collating, stitching, drilling, padding, perforating, laminating, labeling, and folding equipment
  • Handles equipment problems and maintenance; perform minor machine repairs 
  • Reads and calculates department job ticket(s) information; follow specific fabrication instructions as indicated by Work Order(s), Customer(s), or Supervisor
  • Manages multiple projects at a time and work efficiently against delivery deadlines
  • Performs basic arithmetic calculations
  • Packages & labels completed printing jobs for shipping
  • Maintains assigned work area cleanliness
  • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with management and coworkers
  • Troubleshoots quality problems and finds solutions or seeks help from supervisor
  • Produces shipping labels and shipping documents for completed printing jobs
  • Notifies supervisor of recurring equipment malfunction or poor-quality raw material
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the appropriate administrator
     

Required Education

High School Diploma with course work in Business Education and/or graphic arts or other related areas

Certification/Licensure

Valid Georgia Driver License required

Experience Qualifications

Minimum 2 years of related experience; Experience working in and using Adobe Creative Suite

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Strong knowledge of prepress processes and ability to lay out printing jobs utilizing various applications including, Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator & Photoshop) and Microsoft Office (Publisher, Word, Excel)
  • Knowledge of make - ready and prepress concepts, such as imposition and preflight
  • Must be able to effectively prepare and troubleshoot a variety of file formats and edit PDF documents
  • Ability to use digital imaging software to lay out printing jobs
  • Experienced in four-color process printing methods
  • Consistent attention to detail
  • Proven ability to ensure quality during and after production
  • Must be self-disciplined and organized
  • Must be able to manage multiple projects at a time and work efficiently against delivery deadlines
  • Must be able to perform well under deadline constraints and meet quality standards
  • Ability to work cooperatively with others
  • Good communication skills both verbal and written

Physical Demands

  • Requires standing for extended periods of time
  • Ability to correctly lift and carry 80 pounds
