Summary

The Director of Student Supports provides leadership in the development, implementation, and evaluation of programs and services to support students social/emotional health through intervention programs and social/psychological services

Essential Duties

  • Coordinates various support activities that provide school staff information on improving student engagement and achievement
  • Provides evaluation, coaching and supervision for school-based school psychologists
  • Represents District in legal matters pertaining the provision of school psychology, psychological evaluations and other Federal and State compliance functions
  • Oversees professional learning for RTI/SST Chairs, psychologists and graduation coaches that aligns with value-added school improvement plans
  • Provides leadership and guidance to SST/RTI chairs, school psychologists and graduation coaches by direct consultation and through school principals
  • Provides leadership and guidance to schools in the exploration, selection and implementation of Social Emotional Learning (SEL) Programs
  • Provides leadership in planning, implementing and evaluating a comprehensive K-12 intervention program
  • Works cooperatively with community agencies and departments at local and state levels
  • Develops effective communication tools to inform parents and community members about available support services
  • Plans and collaborates with other academic and student support services departments to provide systemic support to schools that will increase student achievement
  • Conducts and analyzes ongoing formative and summative evaluation data for the department
  • Establishes guidelines and procedures needed for accurate and accessible files for confidential psycho-educational and social work reports
  • Develops, monitors and maintains program budgets and expenditures for student support programs
  • Provides supervision, support, and leadership development for department personnel
  • Remains current on laws, requirements, and national trends in the field
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the appropriate administrator

Required Education

Master’s Degree in School Psychology

Certification/Licensure

Must hold or be eligible for Georgia Teaching or Service certification in applicable area
Leadership Certification strongly preferred

Experience Qualifications

Minimum 3 years of supervisory or leadership experience and 3 additional years of experience as a school psychologist required; Social emotional learning experience preferred

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • A background in and thorough knowledge of intervention practices, social work and/or social emotional health
  • Ability to effectively lead, organize, and direct the work of others
  • Demonstrated ability to design and implement short and long range objectives
  • Good decision-making and problem solving skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products including Excel Word, and PowerPoint
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
