Summary

The Executive Director of Special Projects will supervise and facilitate the district’s virtual instructional program, the school safety department, and facilitate redesign initiatives for middle school. The Executive Director will provide focus and direction for improving virtual learning and the safety of students, staff, and volunteers at all levels throughout the District. Over time, this position will be expected to manage the vision and strategy, the development, and the implementation of a diverse portfolio of special projects.  

Essential Duties

  • Facilitates cross-functional work across departments to support virtual school performance and organizational safety
  • Oversees F.A.V.E. and the virtual program in regard to academics, personnel, and budget matters
  • Oversees the district’s safety department staff
  • Collaborates with the Zone Superintendents to provide leadership in the overall daily operation of the virtual school program to include core curriculum, supplemental curriculum, school improvement plans, master schedule development, and faculty and staff training 
  • Forecasts, plans, implements and/or improves the virtual learning curricular and instructional processes to increase virtual student achievement, instructional effectiveness, and operational efficiency
  • Stays abreast of current student and school data trends within the District, state, and nation, specifically in the virtual and middle school arenas 
  • Reviews and evaluates organizational safety strategies and programs to determine product or strategy selections and implementation to best support improvements in district and school safety
  • Develops and manages systems to gather input and streamline decision-making across multiple departments and leaders 
  • Manages and provides directions on special projects and initiatives in the district
  • Collaborates with schools and various departments regarding safety planning and access to district facilities and systems
  • Designs, implements, and evaluates professional development that supports staff knowledge in their assigned areas of responsibility
  • Assists with the establishment of budget priorities for virtual, safety, and middle school redesign programming
  • Ensures the Board of Education and Cabinet has accurate and timely information
  • Assists in analyzing data to continually improve student achievement and/or organizational safety
  • Participates in professional organizations to continue professional growth and development
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Superintendent (or designee)

Required Education

Master’s Degree in Education or related discipline

Certification/Licensure

Must hold or be eligible for Georgia Teaching Certification
Leadership Certification strongly preferred

Experience Qualifications

Minimum five (5) years of supervisory and/or administrative experience and three additional years of classroom teaching experience required

  • Must be skilled in collaborative leadership of individuals and groups
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
