Summary

The School Community Facilitator (SCF) provides Restorative Practices and Conflict Resolution sessions for student/student, student/staff, and parent/community issues that are directly impacting students and/or the school setting. The SCF facilitates restorative circles and conferences daily/weekly, makes appropriate referrals to outside agencies and partners, coordinates outside-agency supports on campus for specific student(s) needs, as well as facilitates in-school supports for students who are experiencing conflict. These supports can include but are not limited to restorative circles, conflict resolution, school-based mental health partners, gang prevention/intervention, substance abuse, and anger management. The SCF secures outside resources and establishes relationships with key community partners and stakeholders to support students in school, at home and in the community.

Essential Duties

  • Creates and coordinates a student, parent, and staff referral process
  • Schedules and conducts restorative and conflict resolution sessions with students, parents, staff and community members
  • Participates in professional learning and completes any required training certification(s)
  • Documents services for students on case load through data portal
  • Provides support for siblings of student involved in restorative or conflict resolution sessions who are in feeder schools 
  • Facilitates and make referrals for in-school supports for students who are experiencing trauma and/or conflict such as counseling, social work or psychological services
  • Works closely with other school partners to secure any needed wraparound services and supports
  • Engages community-based organizations to meet identified student needs and coordinates in-school information sessions for parents and students
  • Engages school-based mental health partners based on student needs
  • Engages FCS’ Community Policing Division based on student needs
  • Collaborates with Behavioral Specialists to customize programming
  • Provides feedback on program effectiveness
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the appropriate administrator

Required Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, Criminal Justice or A related field

Certification/Licensure

None required

Experience Qualifications

Minimum of 3 years of experience working with school-age students, conflict resolution, crisis intervention, and/or mental health services preferred

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Knowledge of Social Work, Counseling, Restorative Practices, Conflict Resolution/Anger Management, Trauma Informed Approaches
  • Knowledge of case management protocols
  • Ability to relate to students in crisis
  • Ability to relate to family members to support students in crises
  • Ability to successfully manage multiple tasks, projects, and responsibilities
  • Ability to apply critical thinking skills to various issues
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • Ability to be a self-starter and prioritize activities to meet goals

Working Conditions

  • Normal office environment
  • Will require travel between schools and administrative offices
