Summary

Responsible for overseeing the school's magnet program's implementation, management, and continuous improvement under the direction of the principal. This includes coordinating program activities, supporting curriculum and instruction, ensuring proper data collection and student coding, and maintaining compliance with district certification requirements. The coordinator serves as a liaison between the school and district office, facilitates professional learning for staff, analyzes program data to inform decisions, and engages with stakeholders to promote and enhance the program. A key focus of this role is to improve the quality of the magnet program by identifying opportunities for growth, fostering innovation, and implementing best practices to ensure student achievement and program success.

Essential Duties

  • Coordinates magnet program activities to ensure alignment with program goals and objectives
  • Supports curriculum development and instructional methods aligned with the goals of the magnet program
  • Demonstrates, monitors, and evaluates teaching strategies to ensure alignment with the program’s objectives and best practices
  • Works with teachers to improve classroom instruction through the implementation of effective instructional methods aligned to the magnet program
  • Contributes to marketing and outreach efforts to promote the magnet program within the school and broader community
  • Serves as a liaison between the school and magnet supporting entities (e.g. the district, magnet certification) to communicate program updates, needs, and outcomes 
  • Conducts and support annual program evaluations to measure success, identify areas for improvement, and align with district goals
  • Analyzes student program data to determine trends and make recommendations
  • Recommends changes to current practices, approaches, methods, and strategies as needed.
  • Advises and support teachers, students, and parents in understanding program-specific standards and expectations
  • Oversees proper data collection, input, and student coding to ensure accurate reporting and compliance with district requirements
  • Ensures the program meets certification requirements in accordance with established policies and guidelines
  • Coordinates site-based professional learning activities as needed
  • Conducts professional development at the school as needed related to the magnet program
  • Supports with the selection of magnet program staff in collaboration with the school administration
  • Engage with parents, community members, and other stakeholders to foster partnerships and increase program support.
  • Informs faculty of professional development opportunities
  • Participates in periodic professional learning activities
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the school administration to support the goals and success of the magnet program

Required Education

Bachelor’s Degree
Master's Degree preferred

Certification/Licensure

Must hold or be eligible for a valid and clear Georgia teaching certificate

Experience Qualifications

Minimum 3 years of successful classroom teaching experience required; Completion of FCS Aspiring Coaching 

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Must have professional knowledge of magnet programs and demonstrated experience in implementing effective teaching strategies and curriculum aligned with magnet program objectives
  • Strong commitment to fostering student success within a magnet program and supporting the professional growth of teachers to meet the program's unique goals and requirements
  • Ability to communicate with adults and student learners at all ability levels
  • High technological skill level required
  • Demonstrated ability to work with personal and confidential information
  • Must be able to successfully manage multiple tasks, projects and responsibilities
  • Ability to apply critical thinking skills in rendering solutions to various issues
  • Must be able to collaborate effectively with District and school personnel, the general public, and work with diverse groups of people
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Excellent communication skills both orally and in writing
