Maintenance Mechanic I, Glazier/Locksmith

Summary

Performs skilled tasks associated with glazier and minor locksmith trades including cutting, fitting, and installation of glass, mirrors, and insulated window units; Also performs key cutting and minor repairs associated with the locksmith trade

Essential Duties

  • Utilizes blueprints, schematics, drawings, layouts, or other specifications to complete various tasks which includes replacement of broken windows, installation of insulated window units, cutting of replacement or new keys, and repairs to cabinetry locks
  • Utilizes hand tools, testing and diagnostic equipment, simple power tools as appropriate for the trade to complete assigned tasks
  • Cleans worksites including hauling debris and trash, cleaning tools and equipment, and ensuring tools, materials and equipment are stored properly
  • Demonstrates knowledge of tools and safety practices commonly used in the various trades
  • Determines proper methods, equipment, and materials to facilitate cost effective repairs
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the appropriate administrator

Required Education

High School Diploma or GED equivalent

Certification/Licensure

Valid Georgia Driver License required
Eligible to acquire a CDL
Must be insurable by Fulton County School insurance carriers

Experience Qualifications

Minimum of 2 years of experience required

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Working knowledge of materials, methods, tools, and equipment of the glazier and locksmith trades
  • Skilled in use of hand and power tools and equipment attachments related to the trade
  • Must be able to understand and follow directions both written and verbal
  • Must be able to work variable shifts

Working Conditions

  • Regular exposure to weather including heat, cold, dampness, and/or humidity
  • Must be able to work from tall ladders, lifts, scaffolding and/or bucket truck

Physical Demands

  • Typically requires climbing ladders; pushing and/or pulling
  • Must have sufficient strength and manual dexterity to operate power equipment
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and carry for short distances
  • Must be able to stand, crouch, and climb to use ladders and perform various types of manual labor
