Maintenance Mechanic II, Security-Low Voltage Tech
Summary
Performs skilled work associated with the Security, Fire Alarm and Life Safety Systems trade
Essential Duties
- Utilizes schematics, drawings, layouts, or other specifications to locate and diagnose trouble in the low voltage electrical system of the security systems and fire alarm systems or equipment
- Applies Journeyman level skills, experience, and general knowledge to complete the maintenance tasks and programming associated with the Intrusion Alarm and Fire Alarm systems and equipment
- Utilizes appropriate instruments to test circuits and systems and draws upon expertise for diagnosis and emergency repairs
- Adjusts, repairs, and replaces equipment, fixtures, and components
- Installs new equipment and programs software
- Uses all shop machinery, testing equipment, tools and safety practices as appropriate for trade to complete assigned tasks
- Performs preventative maintenance on security systems
- Assists engineers in diagnosing problems and recommending corrective action
- Performs other duties as assigned by the appropriate administrator
Required Education
Certification/Licensure
Experience Qualifications
Minimum of 3 years of experience required, 5 years preferred
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Working knowledge of materials, methods, tools, and equipment of the low voltage electrical trade
- Skilled in use of computer, hand and power tools, testing equipment and attachments related to the trade
- Must be able to understand and follow directions both written and verbal
Working Conditions
- Regular exposure to moving machinery and/or vehicles
- Regular exposure to weather including heat, cold, dampness, and/or humidity
- Must be able to work from tall ladders, scaffolds, lifts and bucket trucks
- Must be able to work variable shifts
Physical Demands
- Typically requires climbing ladders, pushing and/or pulling
- May require high degree of precision working with minimum tolerances
- May require stooping, crawling, and bending
- Ability to lift 50 pounds and carry for short distances
