Summary

Provides instruction in selected areas of the Sports and Entertainment Marketing Pathway to ensure that students gain appropriate knowledge and skills about the industry and are prepared for a career and post secondary opportunities

Essential Duties

  • Provides content-related and appropriate instruction based on state and local curriculum through a combination of classroom, laboratory, and co-curricular experiences
  • Provides community-based instruction and projects based on program guidelines and requirements
  • Advisor for the local school chapter of DECA. Information at www.deca.org
  • Manages and maintains program facilities and equipment
  • Adheres to all state guidelines required for the implementation of a successful program
  • Provides classroom environment which promotes active learning in subject area
  • Communicates responsibly with students, parents, colleagues, and school leadership
  • Accounts for student attendance and punctuality
  • Follows all county, state, and federal policies and procedures
  • Follows professional ethics in all work-related activities
  • Attends school and District-level professional learning activities as directed
  • Prepares adequately for responsibilities to be assumed when absent
  • Facilitates home-school communication by such means as holding conferences, telephoning, and sending written communications Integrates appropriate technology into classroom instruction
  • Avoids behaviors which detract from staff morale
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the appropriate administrator

Required Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing or a related field

Certification/Licensure

Must hold or be eligible for valid teaching certificate in Marketing Education

Experience Qualifications

Minimum 2 years of occupational work experience in the field is preferred

  • Classroom management skills
  • Excellent communication skills both orally and in writing
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Proven communication and instructional strategies

Physical Demands

  • Ability to lift and carry 30-50 pounds with assistance
  • Ability to push or pull a maximum of 50 pounds
