Summary

Provides instruction for students that enables them to learn and demonstrate mastery of the Georgia Early Learning and Development Standards

Essential Duties

  • Demonstrates enthusiasm for working with Pre-K students
  • Provides content-related and appropriate instruction based on Fulton County’s curriculum
  • Provides classroom environment which promotes active learning in subject area
  • Exhibits knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices for four-and five-year olds
  • Communicates responsibly with students, parents, colleagues, and school leadership
  • Accounts for student attendance and punctuality
  • Follows the Operating Guidelines required by Bright from the Start
  • Follows all county, state, and federal policies and procedures
  • Follows professional ethics in all work-related activities
  • Attends all required trainings for Pre-K teachers
  • Prepares adequately for responsibilities to be assumed when absent
  • Works with parents/guardians in all aspects of the student’s educational program
  • Facilitates home-school communication by such means as holding conferences, telephoning, and sending written communications
  • Integrates appropriate technology into classroom instruction
  • Avoids behaviors which detract from staff morale
  • Enrolss in the Georgia Professional Development System for Early Educators (GaPDS)
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the appropriate administrator

Required Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood, Elementary Education or other ECE or ECE-related field or Any other Bachelor’s degree along with Associate Degree with ECE major or
Montessori diploma, Technical College Diploma TCD) with ECE major, Technical Certificate of Credit (TCC) with ECE major required, or must hold or be eligible to hold valid teaching certificate in applicable field

Certification/Licensure

None required

Georgia Professional Standards Commission (GaPSC) certification is verified through review of www.gapsc.com for all teachers.)

Experience Qualifications

0-1 year classroom experience required; High School teaching experience preferred

  • Proven communication and instructional strategies

  • Excellent communication skills both orally and in writing
  • Excellent organizational skills

Physical Demands

  • Ability to lift and carry 30-50 pounds with assistance
  • Ability to push or pull a maximum of 50 pounds
  • May require stooping or crouching
