Summary

Works in an instructional support capacity to provide professional learning, technical guidance and best practice resources and materials in the area of Response to Intervention (RtI) and in an administrative capacity in matters relating to compliance and the development and implementation of Student Support Team (SST) for the school system, Serves as the primary central level contact for RtI and SST, as well as functions as the liaison between General Education, Psychological Services and Special Education for compliance and due process issues related to students with impairments and disabilities

Essential Duties

  • Provides knowledge, guidance, and support to building level administrators and Student Support Services staff for students with special learning and behavioral challenges in the areas of professional development, programming, and service delivery to increase student achievement
  • Plans and develops District and school-wide professional learning program for RtI and SST
  • Develops, implements, supports, and monitors  District’s Response to Intervention (RtI) framework for increasing student achievement
  • Facilitates and supports RtI/SST Teams’ effective use of research-based, instructional practices that support the development of student’s language, early literacy, and mathematical background knowledge and concept development
  • Facilitates and supports RtI/SST Teams and Teacher’s use of classroom-based, developmentally appropriate interventions for individual children and groups of children to enhance their acquisition of social/emotional and cognitive skills
  • Provides technical guidance and support for RtI/SST Teams’ effective use of behavioral support tools (functional behavior assessment, positive behavioral supports, and behavior intervention plans)
  • Creates and implements systems for program administration, including referral methods, data collection and storage; oversees  District-level data collection and progress monitoring for every tier
  • Provides training and technical assistance for every tier of intervention for administrators, RtI/SST Chairs, and teachers
  • Creates and maintains resources and interventions via the web portal
  • Participates in ongoing Program Evaluation
  • Provides training and support on effective use of school-based intervention teams, including collaboration, communication, and cohesion across various team members (administrators, teachers, counselors, CSTs, ISTs, school psychologists, etc.)
  • Coordinates the use of data systems that provide critical student achievement data and information (eSchoolPLUS, FultonConnect, Renaissance Learning, etc.) as well as any necessary forms for data-based decision making at every tier of intervention
  • Ensures compliance with federal, state and local guidelines relative to RtI and SST 
  • Maintains records and data for the purpose of complying with Federal, State and Local mandated reporting requirements
  • Utilizes understanding of how to select and analyze data related to individual students, groups of students and classrooms to positively impact achievement and behavior
  • Ensures that the SST adheres to multiple legal requirements in order to protect the legal integrity of the system and students
  • Develops knowledge of and employs technology, telecommunications and information systems to facilitate and maximize the efficiency and effectiveness of the RtI/SST process and to enrich instructional practices
  • Engages the learning community (school and District) to identify and systematically address professional learning needs related to SST
  • Demonstrates skills in data gathering and analysis, project planning and evaluation
  • Demonstrates ability to promote and follow Board of Education policies, Superintendent’s initiatives and directives, school building and department procedures
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the appropriate administrator

Required Education

Master’s Degree in Education, Counseling, or School Psychology

Certification/Licensure

Must hold or be eligible for Georgia Teaching or Service certification in applicable area
Must hold or be eligible for Georgia Leadership Certification

Experience Qualifications

Minimum 3 years of experience as a teacher, school counselor or school psychologist required; Advanced training and minimum 2 years of experience implementing Response to Intervention models and programs required; Minimum 2 years as a school- based SST Chair preferred

  • Strong knowledge of testing and assessment
  • Computer and technology skills
  • Deep understanding of instruction in reading/literacy, math, and behavior interventions
  • Ability to develop, implement, monitor and evaluate program goals and initiatives
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
