Summary
The role of the Program Manager for Information Technology is to plan, execute, and finalize projects according to strict deadlines and within budget. This includes acquiring resources and coordinating the efforts of team members and third-party contractors or consultants in order to deliver projects according to plan. The Program Manager for Information Technology will also define project objectives and oversee quality control throughout the life cycle.
Essential Duties
- Runs complex projects and programs from initiation and planning phase to conclusion
- Defines requirements and plans project lifecycle execution
- Defines resources and schedules for project and program implementation using tools established by FCS and IT Division
- Plans and schedules project deliverables, goals, and milestones
- Creates strategies for risk mitigation and contingency planning
- Directs and oversees internal and external project teams and manages conflict within group
- Identifies and documents project issues and risks in IT project plans and escalates to senior management as needed
- Develops Requests for Proposals (RFP) for external services
- Designs and maintains technical and project documentation
- Travels to school and administrative buildings to conduct site reviews, field surveys, project supervision, and attend meetings
- Develops, monitors, and maintains the project communication plan and process
- Maintains awareness of emerging technologies and project management techniques
- Performs other duties as assigned by appropriate administrator
Required Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering or Information Systems
Certification/Licensure
Project Management Certification preferred
Experience Qualifications
Minimum 5 years of experience in IT and 3 to 5 years of experience with Project Management required
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Must be able to successfully manage multiple tasks, projects and responsibilities
- Ability to apply critical thinking skills in rendering solutions to various issues
- Must be able to collaborate effectively with District personnel, the general public, and work with diverse groups of people
- Strong organizational, presentation, and customer service skills
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
