Summary
The Assessment Program Specialist is responsible for planning and providing support, resources, and professional learning to schools in support of the District-wide implementation of effective assessment practices, including the administration of all state and national assessments.
Essential Duties
- Supports the administration of all state and national assessment plans in the District’s assessment strategy and annual testing calendar:
- Completes all mandatory Georgia Department of Education and vendor assessment trainings
- Executes project plans for the successful administration of state and national assessment
- Executes processes for managing school testing irregularities and parent testing refusals
- Monitors school compliance to all state and national assessment processes and deadlines
- Supports District and school-based staff in the implementation of effective assessment administration practices:
- Creates and facilitates an annual professional development schedule for the administration of all state and national assessments
- Provides targeted professional development to school leaders for the successful administration of all state and national assessments
- Creates and maintains print resources to support assessment administration, including, manuals, test coordinator job aides, and parent resources
- Provides user support for state and national assessment technologies
- Responds to technical questions
- Troubleshoots platform issues
- Completes Georgia Department of Education student data coding tasks (e.g. participation validation, student matching, non-participation, and enrollment counts)
- Maintains assessment administration training and print resources on the internal and external assessment websites
- Performs other duties as assigned by the appropriate administrator
Required Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Education or related field
Master's Degree preferred
Certification/Licensure
Experience Qualifications
Minimum 3 years of successful classroom teaching experience required; Prior experience with assessment administration and professional staff development preferred; Experience working within a large, complex organization preferred
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver training to adult learners across multiple assessment topics and grade levels
- Demonstrated ability to effectively navigate, set-up, and maintain assessment technology services or systems
- Demonstrated ability to plan and execute district-wide processes or projects
- Demonstrated ability to plan and execute multiple projects simultaneously to meet short-term objectives and long-term goals
- Demonstrated ability to implement cycles of continuous improvement and develop innovative solutions that address challenges
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with diverse groups of stakeholders, including district/school administrators, teachers, and/or community members
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
Working Conditions
- Normal office environment
- Will require travel between schools
