Summary

The Program Specialist for Instructional Technology leads the implementation of district instructional technology initiatives, ensuring consistency, quality, and impact through coordinated support and collaboration with school and district staff. The role oversees key programs, including Vanguard, coordinates instructional technology support, and ensures effective follow-through on district priorities while partnering with school leadership to support implementation and continuous improvement.

Essential Duties

  • Leads the implementation and ongoing management of the Vanguard program, including communication, monitoring participation, and ensuring completion of program expectations.
  • Supports Vanguard members in implementing district initiatives and meeting program responsibilities
  • Coordinates instructional technology support in schools, including scheduling and logistics for district and contracted services
  • Monitors the quality and effectiveness of instructional technology support in schools through observation, feedback, and coaching of support providers
  • Collaborates with the Coordinator of Instructional Technology to align support with district priorities
  • Collaborates with school leadership to support implementation of instructional technology initiatives and addresses barriers to ensure effective integration in practice
  • Designs, delivers, and supports professional learning aligned to district instructional technology priorities in collaboration with the Coordinator of Instructional Technology
  • Assists in developing and supporting Vanguard-led professional learning
  • Models effective instructional technology integration and best practices
  • Plans, coordinates, and supports department-led events, initiatives, and academic competitions in collaboration with team members
  • Communicates program expectations and updates to stakeholders and uses feedback and implementation trends to inform continuous improvement
  • Stays current on emerging technologies and instructional best practices to inform district initiatives and support
  • Collaborates with Media Services and other departments to support cross-functional initiatives
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the appropriate administrator

Required Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Education
Master's Degree preferred in Instructional Technology

Certification/Licensure

Must hold or be eligible for a valid and clear teaching certificate

Experience Qualifications

Minimum of 3 years of successful classroom teaching that successfully integrated the use of instructional technology required; Prior experience with designing, coordinating and providing effective professional learning for adult learners; experience as a Vanguard member and/or as a Media and Educational Technology Instructor (METI) preferred 

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Knowledge of instructional technology best practices, instructional frameworks, and standards-based instruction
  • Knowledge of differentiation and strategies to support diverse learners
  • Ability to support implementation of technology-enhanced teaching and learning
  • Ability to design and deliver effective professional learning for adult learners
  • Ability to build relationships and provide coaching to educators and school leaders
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to analyze implementation trends and adjust support accordingly
  • Knowledge of emerging technologies in education
