Summary

Performs related duties of a classroom teacher to provide continuity in the day-to-day responsibilities during the absence of the regular employee for more than 10 consecutive days in the same job/assignment.  Note:  Substitute employees are employed on an as needed, on-call, day-to-day basis

Essential Duties

  • Provides content-related and appropriate instruction based on Fulton County’s curriculum
  • Provides classroom environment which promotes active learning in subject area
  • Communicates responsibly with students, parents, colleagues, and school leadership
  • Accounts for student attendance and punctuality
  • Compiles, maintains, and submits required records
  • Follows all county, state, and federal policies and procedures
  • Follows professional ethics in all work-related activities
  • Avoids behaviors which detract from staff morale
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the appropriate administrator

Required Education

Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited university

Certification/Licensure

GaPSC Clearance Certificate required
Teaching Certification preferred

Experience Qualifications

None required; Experience working with children preferred

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Proven communication and instructional strategies
  • Classroom management skills
  • Excellent communication skills both orally and in writing
  • Excellent organizational skills

  • Classroom environment

Physical Demands

  • Ability to lift and carry 30-50 pounds with assistance
  • Ability to push or pull a maximum of 50 pounds
  • May require stooping or crouching

Daily Rate


Actual salary placement will be based on Fulton County Board of Education "PAY RATES FOR SUBSTITUTE EMPLOYEES"
Substitute Teacher - $175/Day
Long-Term Substitute Teacher - $190/Day
Substitute Paraprofessional/Clinic Assistant- $100/Day
