Summary

Receives, inspects, stores, distributes and conducts inventory of school equipment, material, and food commodities for the school system

Essential Duties

  • Loads, off-loads, and transports supplies using a hand truck, appliance truck, dolly, or other material handling equipment
  • Operates a manually controlled gasoline/electric powered forklift and/or pallet jack to transport and stage supply material throughout the warehouse
  • Operates a cargo truck to transport materials and equipment from specified destinations
  • Verifies and utilizes information contained in receiving, storing, inventory, and shipping documents
  • Checks shipping documents and verifies quantity, serial numbers and items specified
  • Examines packages and items for any damage, shortage, or overage
  • Uses automated systems to access requisitions and reports and to generate shipping labels
  • Safeguards and accounts for assigned supplies and equipment
  • Responds to inquiries concerning departmental procedures
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the appropriate administrator

Required Education

High School Diploma or GED equivalent

Certification/Licensure

Valid Georgia Commercial Driver License (CDL) required

Experience Qualifications

None required; Some experience working in a warehouse preferred; Experience working with WMS (Warehouse Management System) and/or RF environment

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Ability to correctly lift and carry 80 pounds
  • Ability to transport 150 pounds up and down stairs utilizing a hand truck with stair climbers
  • Ability to load and off-load 1500 pounds from a truck utilizing a hand jack
  • Must be able to operate a forklift in transporting and placing material into a rack system over ten feet high
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and verification
  • Must be able to successfully work mathematical problems requiring addition, subtraction, multiplication and division
  • Must be able to understand and follow instructions received either verbally or in writing
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal
