Provides instruction for students with disabilities that supports learning and student achievement; Assists in facilitating transition from school to post-secondary, employment and career opportunities

Essential Duties

  • Develops or selects and modifies job rotations and materials to meet individual student needs
  • Develops, implements, monitors, and reviews the Individualized Education Program (IEP) for each student on the caseload
  • Organizes and provides instruction that will assist students with special needs in successfully entering and participating in all vocational training opportunities
  • Communicates with parents of students regarding progress and/or any specific concerns encountered
  • Maintains accurate records of all students and each student’s progress
  • Communicates responsibility with students, parents, colleagues, and school leadership
  • Accounts for student attendance and punctuality
  • Works with parents/guardians in all aspects of the student’s educational program 
  • Uses technology to support instruction
  • Follows professional ethics in all work-related activities
  • Prepares adequately for responsibilities to be assumed when absent
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the appropriate administrator

Required Education

Bachelor’s Degree


Valid Georgia Teacher Certification for area of specialization required

Experience Qualifications

Minimum of 3 years of teaching experience in the field of Special Needs required 


  • Proven communication and instructional strategies
  • Knowledge of IDEA and due process requirements
  • Excellent communication skills both orally and in writing
  • Excellent organizational skills

Working Conditions

  • Corporate/business/hospital environment

Physical Demands

  • Ability to lift and carry 30-50 pounds with assistance
  • Ability to push or pull a maximum of 50 pounds
  • May require stooping or crouching
  • Typically standing or walking
